Cape No. 7

Directed by: Wei Te-sheng

The Taiwanese film industry is a smoking crater, so when director Wei Te-sheng mortgaged his house to make CAPE NO. 7 most people thought he was insane. Showed them. CAPE became a cultural phenomenon and is the most successful Taiwanese movie ever made. It’s a perfectly-observed character comedy about a band of smalltown misfits getting together to form a band, as rough, raw, funny and moving as a Mando-pop power ballad sung full-throttle in a late night karaoke bar.
