More Than A Game

NYICFF is excited to present this special pre-release screening of MORE THAN A GAME, the real-life story of NBA superstar LeBron James and his childhood team, the “Fab Five”. Beginning as fifth graders, the scrappy underdog team undertakes an emotional seven year journey from a decrepit inner-city Akron gym to the doorstep of the national high school basketball championships. Along the way, the close-knit team is repeatedly tested-both on and off the court-as James’ unprecedented talent explodes into worldwide celebrity, threatening to destroy everything the team has set out to achieve together. This emotionally charged, coming-of-age film combines one-on-one interviews with rare news footage, and never-before-seen home videos as it tells its remarkable story of friendship, commitment, and perseverance. Like Hoop Dreams, this film has wide appeal and is absolutely not just for basketball fans!
