What is “streaming?”
For IFC Center, “streaming” simply means watching a video over your internet connection (instead of downloading a file to your computer). It’s immediate and available on demand with any device that’s connected to the internet. Anytime you watch a video on a website, you’re streaming!
How do I stream a film?
If you are buying tickets before the “opening date” of the film, you’ll receive a link that will let you stream your selection starting at 12:00 am ET on that opening date. If you are buying tickets on the opening date or later, simply click the Stream button that appears on the confirmation page after purchase, in your confirmation email and ticket purchasing page (click through on the film page as if to purchase tickets).
How to watch on your computer, mobile phone or tablet
Currently you can stream through the following web browsers: Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Microsoft Edge, and Opera. For both PC and Apple computers, we recommend that you use the latest version of your browser.
Note: Internet Explorer is not supported.
How to watch on your television
- Screen Sharing (Chromecast & Apple TV)
You can stream films on Chromecast or Apple TV (all generations) by screen sharing your smartphone, tablet, or computer on the same Wi-Fi network. Instructions for screen sharing using your Apple TV using AirPlay can be found here. For information on screen sharing using your Chromecast, click here.
If you have a laptop or nearby computer with an HDMI port, you can connect it directly to your television, using it as a second monitor. That said, connection details will depend on your setup. We recommend referencing your television’s manual for more information.
When can I begin streaming my films?
Films available for purchase and hosted on our streaming platform will be viewable beginning at 12 am ET on their “opening date.” You can stream by clicking on the “Stream” button in your confirmation email or on the film’s ticketing page. Once you click through to start streaming the film, you will have 48 hour access to complete your viewing.
How long after I purchase a ticket do I have to stream a film?
Once you’ve clicked the “Stream” button, you have 48 hours to watch a film, or until the end of the film’s engagement if it occurs in less than 48 hours.
Can I watch a film more than once?
Yes. You can watch a film as many times as you like within your 48-hour window.
I am not currently in New York. Am I able to stream a film?
Films screening on IFC Center’s platform are viewable within the US and US territories (American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands). Our films are not available outside the US and its territories.
I am receiving this error message: “Your voucher has been redeemed by a different IP address.” What do I do?
For security reasons, you must view your film on the same WiFi network or Internet connection. Once you start your stream in one location, you cannot continue viewing it in another location or on a different network—for example, if you start watching at home and try to restart at a friend’s house. To stream on multiple devices in one location, make sure all devices are connected to the same network. Email firstname.lastname@example.org if you continue to experience difficulty or believe you are receiving this message in error.
Can I download a film instead of streaming it?
As a security measure, the IFC Center streaming platform does not allow downloading. Films may only be watched while streaming. It is not possible to download a film.
All streams are available to view for 48 hours after you click “Stream,” or until the end of the film’s engagement if it occurs in less than 48 hours after starting the film.
Is closed captioning available?
When closed-captions have been made available to us, we are able to provide these captions for films when viewed on a browser. To see whether closed-captions are available for a specific title, please check the film’s page on our website for Accessibility details.

What are the system requirements for streaming IFC Center films online?
You can watch content on PCs running Windows 7+, and Intel-based Macs running OSX 10.12+. You can also watch films on Android tablets and phones using Chrome, and on iPhones and iPads using Safari.
What are the requirements for Windows computers?
- Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10
Supported browsers: Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Opera. We recommend using the latest version of your browser. Internet Explorer is not supported.
What are the requirements for Mac computers?
- Mac OSX 10.12 or later

Can I watch content on my iPhone/iPad?
Yes, you can watch content using Safari on iOS 11.2 or later. Please note that you must have “Screen Mirroring” turned off for content to play.
Can I watch content on my Android Device?
Yes, you can watch content using Chrome on Android 6.0 or later.
Can I Chromecast content?
You can Chromecast from a Chrome web browser on PC and Mac computers as well as Android devices by selecting the cast button () in the bottom right-hand side of the player.
Can I AirPlay to my AppleTV?
You can AirPlay from most browsers if you have Apple TV by selecting the AirPlay button () in the bottom right-hand side of the player.
Why does video playback stall or not play smoothly?
The streaming quality automatically adjusts based on your internet speed. If your internet connection is poor or inconsistent you may experience problems during playback. If you’re on wifi, try moving closer to your router.
Why do I see a black screen if I am watching content with AirPlay on my TV?
You likely have “Screen Mirroring” turned on in your device settings. Please turn off the screen mirroring setting and start AirPlay by selecting the AirPlay button () in the bottom right.
How do I log into my user profile on IFC Center (to review my information, view my tickets, etc.)?

Where is IFC Center located and how do I get there?
IFC Center is located at 323 Avenue of the Americas (Sixth Avenue) at West 3rd Street. Take the A, B, C, D, E, F or M to the West 4th Street/Washington Square stop or the 1 to Christopher Street/Sheridan Square. IFC Center is not currently open to the public.
How do I submit a film for consideration?
Thank you for your interest in screening your film at IFC Center. We are not currently accepting submissions.

Can I use my AMC Stubs card or Regal Crown Club card at IFC Center?
No. IFC Center is an independent cinema, with no affiliation to AMC Theatres or Regal Cinemas.
Do you sell gift cards or certificates?
No, but we do sell IFC Center Gift Memberships. More information can be found at www.ifccenter.com/membership/.
How do I log into my user profile on IFC Center (to review my information, view my tickets, etc.)?

Will I still be able to purchase tickets at the IFC Center box office?
IFC Center’s theater in the West Village, including the box office, is not currently open. Tickets for online screenings may only be purchased through our website.
Do I need an IFC Center account to make a purchase or stream online films?
Yes, you need an IFC Center user account – click here to sign up. If you have purchased tickets online to any events or films at DOC NYC or IFC Center, you should already have an account. You can sign in with your IFC Center member number or your email address.

When do tickets go on sale for upcoming films? And how do I buy tickets?
Tickets for upcoming films screening online may be on sale prior to the “opening date” of the film. To purchase, click through to the film page on IFC Center’s website, and follow any prompts to purchase a ticket.
I can’t find or have not received my confirmation email – what should I do?
Confirmation emails are sent automatically once your purchase is complete. If you do not receive your email within a few minutes of completion, check your Spam and Junk Mail folders. The email will be from email@example.com, subject starting with “IFC Center Order Confirmation.”
If you still cannot find the email, stream by going to the event page and press the “Stream” button. You must be logged in to view the film.
Will there be Q&As for films? Will I need a ticket to access Q&As?
Q&A information will be listed on individual film pages. Your film ticket will allow you to watch the Q&A–just stay tuned following the film’s end credits. Q&As can only be viewed by ticketholders for that film.
Can I forward tickets for an online screening?
Tickets cannot be forwarded or transferred to another user to access; streaming ticket purchases and ticket pack redemptions are only valid for the user account the ticket is associated with.
What is your refund policy?
Tickets for online screenings are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Do you have any discounts for online screenings?
We are not currently offering discounts on tickets for online screenings except to IFC Center members. Details can be found at www.ifccenter.com/membership/.
Where can I purchase an IFC Center membership?

There is nowhere on the ticket purchase page to enter in my 4-digit member number – help!
The four-digit code on the back of an older IFC Center membership card no longer works with our current ticketing system. You can reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org to request your current member number – you will need to create a new user profile online, using your new member number, to access your member benefits with the current system. Your member benefits will be tied to your user profile, so you will not need to enter a member number every time you purchase tickets.
I am renewing my IFC Center membership. Will I be getting a new card, or do I keep my old one?
You’ll receive a new IFC Center membership card when you renew if you have an IFC Center card with an old 4-digit code; if you have a newer member card, your card and member number will be valid as long as your membership is active. Please recycle your old card (with the 4-digit code at the bottom of the card) once your new card is received.

Do Mogul-level members get free tickets to online screenings?
Unfortunately, we’re unable to provide Mogul members with free access to stream films. The free ticket benefit for Mogul members will resume when we’re able to relaunch in-theater screenings.
I’m a member, but I don’t see the member ticket option on the purchase page.

I lost my membership card. How do I get a new one?
