Sounds Like Teen Spirit

Saturday, May 16 - Sunday, May 17, 2009

Presented by the New York International Children’s Film Festival. Adolescent awkwardness, reality show excess, and a hunger for fame collide in this “delightful, irresistible crowd pleaser” (Variety). This highly entertaining documentary about the Junior Eurovision teen song competition plays more like a mockumentary, but is the real deal, as kids dress up in garishly colorful outfits and belt out pop anthems for a chance at international stardom. The film follows four young singers-some rich and some poor, some woefully inexperienced and some already members of successful teenie-bopper groups-as they compete in front of swooning audiences and TV cameras to win fame and honor for their home country.
