Film 101: Canon Fodder

Friday, October 2 - Sunday, December 27, 2015

This 12-film showcase of some of cinema’s greatest works inaugurates “Film School at IFC Center,” our new educational outreach initiative. High school students with valid school IDs will now be admitted free to Saturday and Sunday Weekend Classics shows—and will receive a free popcorn.

The “Film School at IFC Center” initiative will also offer free admission for high school students to any non-school hours shows of the theater’s annual presentation of the Oscar-nominated Animated, Live-Action and Documentary Short Films. And New York City elementary, middle and high schools will be able to book free weekday screenings of the Animated Oscar-Nominated Shorts program for school groups, letting students of all ages discover an international selection of the year’s best animation.

In addition, “Film School at IFC Center” will make free annual memberships (valued at $75) available to K-12 teachers in an effort to build exposure to some of the world’s best independent films and movie classics. The theater’s popular membership program offers discounts on movie tickets, free screenings and other benefits to thousands of annual members.
