Curated online cinema MUBI presents Paul Thomas Anderson’s new film JUNUN. Fresh from its premiere at the New York Film Festival, JUNUN is having an exclusive worldwide release online through MUBI starting October 9.

Earlier this year, Paul Thomas Anderson joined his close friend and collaborator Jonny Greenwood and  Israeli musician, composer and poet Shye Ben Tzur on a trip to Rajasthan in Northwestern India, where they were hosted by the Maharaja of Jodhpur. Their destination was the 15th century Mehrangarh Fort, where Greenwood (with the help of Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich) and an amazing group of musicians called from across the Indian subcontinent, worked on Ben Tzur’s album which will be released by Nonesuch in November.

The band assembled a makeshift studio at the fort and over the following 3 weeks created the joyous collaboration that becomes the music and film of JUNUN (an alternate spelling of “junoon,” the Arabic, Persian, Urdu, and Hindi word for “mania,” or “the madness of love”).

The results deliver the close camaraderie of artistic collaboration and a sonic, visual and sensory experience that will capture your imagination.

  • Running Time 54 minutes
  • Director Paul Thomas Anderson
