Short Attention Span Cinema: NYC Women Filmmakers

Friday, May 4 - Thursday, June 21, 2018

In collaboration with NYC Women Filmmakers, IFC Center is proud to present a selection of short films from their directors, screening one a week as part of our preshows before main attractions from May 4 through June 21. NYC Women Filmmakers is a grassroots community that holds monthly workshops and meet ups for women-identifying and non-binary filmmakers of all trades, experience, and background, based in New York. NYC Women Filmmakers exchanges knowledge, fosters collaboration, shares resources, and supports filmmakers at all stages of their careers. Sign up for the mailing list or find the group on Facebook to be notified of future events.

Inaugurated with IFC Center’s opening in 2005, the ongoing “Short Attention Span Cinema” series plays short films before the theater’s regular features, every day of the year. Past editions have spotlighted shorts from film festivals like Slamdance, Doxita, and the New York International Children’s Film Festival; work from The New York Times’ Op-Docs, The 78 Project, and UNICEF’s Oneminutesjr. initiatives; and films by Isabella Rossellini, Jay Rosenblatt, DA Pennebaker, Jeff Scher, Emily Hubley, Guy Maddin, James Nares, Jessica Oreck and others.
