The Fearless Roman Polanski

Friday, June 13 - Thursday, June 19, 2014

Roman Polanski emerged from overwhelming adversity during World War II to become one of contemporary cinema’s greatest filmmakers. After attending Poland’s famed Lodz Film School, his first feature (and international sensation) KNIFE IN THE WATER established Polanski’s distinct mastery in combining claustrophobic horror, mounting dread and pitch-black comedy. It’s a quality that marks all his films, from European favorites (REPULSION) to New Hollywood classics (CHINATOWN, ROSEMARY’S BABY) through his rich later work (THE GHOST WRITER, the new VENUS IN FUR). We’re thrilled to present this comprehensive retrospective of Polanski’s films, covering an astonishing career that spans nearly six decades, a host of countries and a multitude of genres.
