In the scorching summer heat, Rose (Fiona Shaw) and her daughter Sofia (Emma Mackey) travel to a Spanish seaside town to consult an enigmatic healer about Rose’s mysterious illness. But once there, Sofia falls under the influence of the magnetic charms of the free-spirited Ingrid (Vicky Krieps). Sofia’s increased freedom becomes too much for her controlling mother, and as the hot sun beats down, long pent-up resentments and bitterness threaten to boil over.
