Tues Nov 10: Special screening + conversation with dir. Nathaniel Kahn & Michael Pärt at 6:30!
Special screening marking the 125th anniversary of Louis Kahn’s birth and USA 250.
MY ARCHITECT: A SON’S JOURNEY is Nathaniel Kahn’s acclaimed and deeply personal documentary about his search to understand his father, the Estonian-born American architect Louis Kahn. Through a journey across countries, buildings, archives, and memories, Nathaniel explores the life and work of one of the 20th century’s most influential architects, and his own complex relationship with the father he came to know through his work.
Following the screening, Nathaniel Kahn and Michael Pärt, son of renowned Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, will come together for a special conversation about their fathers, their creative worlds, and the legacies they continue to shape. Though working in different realms, both Louis Kahn and Arvo Pärt transformed their creative worlds, and their work continues to resonate across generations and borders. And both shared a focus on the essential: space and silence, light and presence, simplicity and meaning. Their distinct creative visions invite us to look and listen differently – and to consider how ideas can transcend disciplines, cultures, and time.
