“Is He? …or isn’t She?”

Enter into the twilight world of men turned into women in BLACK CHRISTMAS filmmaker Bob Clark’s feature debut. Made in Florida with a cast largely drawn from the stage of New York’s legendary 82 Club, SHE-MAN tells the story of Lt. Albert Rose, a macho soldier who finds himself forced to take estrogen as part of a blackmail scheme led by the mysterious Dominita. The shocking part? He likes it. Advertised as being “for psychologically mature adults only,” SHE-MAN: A STORY OF FIXATION is a singularly screwy piece of pre-Stonewall queer cinema history and the greatest force-fem story ever told by the director of Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2.

Screening as part of our new queer series programmed and hosted by Elizabeth Purchell and KJ Shepherd, Cruising the Movies.
