Vampire Weekends

Friday, September 30 - Saturday, November 5, 2022

Sink your teeth into a six-film showcase of bloodsucking classics, screening Fridays and Saturdays at midnight, September 30-November 5.

Popular culture has long been fascinated by the figure of the vampire, from the days of silent cinema to the present, with each new era finding its own ways to imagine the seductive darkness at the core of the legend. With the latest vampire saga, a new episodic adaptation of Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire, set to premiere on AMC and AMC+ on October 2, IFC Center revisits a handful of iconic vampire films in weekend midnight screenings.

The program kicks off with Joel Schumacher’s 1987 cult classic THE LOST BOYS, starring Keifer Sutherland as the leader of a band of neo-goth California undead. Other entries in the program include Catherine Hardwicke’s TWILIGHT (2008), a blockbuster teen romance that made Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson megastars; Tony Scott’s THE HUNGER (1983), with Catherine Deneuve and David Bowie as creatures of the night who seduce an unsuspecting Susan Sarandon; Robert Rodriguez’s FROM DUSK TIL DAWN (1996), starring George Clooney, Quentin Tarantino, Harvey Keitel and Salma Hayek; and Korean master Park Chan-wook’s take on the vampire genre, THIRST (2006), with the great Song Kang-ho (Parasite). The series concludes November 4 & 5 with a 35mm print of another Anne Rice adaptation, QUEEN OF THE DAMNED (2002), featuring Aaliyah as Rice’s legendary first vampire. See below for a full schedule.
