Shut Up Little Man! An Audio Misadventure

Friday, September 16 - Thursday, September 22, 2011

In 1987 in San Francisco’s low-rent Lower Haight, two young Midwesterners became neighbors to two men and their nightly, vodka-fueled fights. Simultaneously appalling and hilarious, the altercations were an audio goldmine; the boys decided to record them, and the tapes they made became an underground sensation. This darkly comic look tracks down the participants—creators, subjects and fans—to explore the way the phenomenon and its legacy blurred the boundaries between art, privacy and exploitation.
