New digital restoration!

In this update of Goethe’s 1795 novel Wilhelm Meister’s Apprenticeship, frustrated aspiring writer Rüdiger Vogler (a longtime Wenders star) leaves behind the stifling comforts of home to discover his voice. As he travels the length of West Germany, he joins up with a group of itinerant performers—among them Hanna Schygulla, Peter Kern and the young Nastassja Kinski in her first role—but can’t seem to transform experience into art.

Accompanied by additional screenings of the other two films in the “Road Trilogy”—Alice in the Cities and Kings of the Road—plus additional Wenders masterworks, including Paris, Texas and Wings of Desire, all recently restored.
