A unique study led by Argentine physicist Gabriel Mindlin explores a common species of sparrows that use song in its ritual courtship (and even sing in their dreams.) While tracing how their melodies change over the years, he notes some falling into disuse. Through mathematical models, Gabriel and his team attempt to reintroduce the lost melodies, raising questions about the power of music and the rituals of love—not only among birds, but also in the rhythms that shape human relationships.
