Acceptance seems to elude Shirin (writer-director Akhavan, newly cast in Girls) from all sides. Her perfect Persian family doesn’t know she’s bisexual, and her ex, Maxine, can’t understand why she won’t tell them. Even her six-year-old film students are too ADD to focus on her for more than a second. When her brother announces his engagement to a parentally approved prize Iranian catch, Shirin embarks on her own private rebellion in a series of pansexual escapades, while trying to decipher how things went so wrong.
