Lemon Tree
Friday, April 17 - Thursday, April 30, 2009
A dispute between neighbors becomes a parable of a divided land in the latest from award-winning filmmaker Riklas (The Syrian Bride). Salma (Hiam Abbass of The Visitor) is a Palestinian widow whose family’s lemon grove is declared a security threat after an Israeli official moves in next door. Defying orders to cut down her trees, Salma struggles to maintain control of both her land and her feelings for the young lawyer who’s helping her–and begins to form an unexpected bond with her neighbor’s beleaguered wife.
