Short Attention Span Cinema: Where Is the Black Beast?

Before our regular features, we’re thrilled to present WHERE IS THE BLACK BEAST?, a series of short films based on Crow, the book of poems by Ted Hughes, and made from amateur snapshots that date from the early 20th century and the present. On the surface, many of these photographs depict moments of happiness (holidays, birthday and other celebrations), but certain expressions and gestures reveal the egos, the fears, the aggressions and the disappointments in Hughes’s poems. WHERE IS THE BLACK BEAST? originally screened in the LOOP video festival in Barcelona and was directed by Simon Lee and Algis Kizys. Films in the series include:
