NYC PREMIERE!

The early days of Exploitation TV-dressed-up-as-moral-public-service were well represented by the NBC hit show “To Catch a Predator” (2004-07), which lured child predators to a TV set, where they would then be exposed and arrested. Youthful-looking legal-age actors would serve as bait until Chris Hansen, the dapper host of the show, would step in for the big switch and ask the predators the same shaming question: “Why are you here?” In his new documentary PREDATORS, filmmaker David Osit contemplates the deeper meanings of that question as he examines the reverberating copycat effects of the original show. Osit brilliantly constructs an emotional puzzle that takes the entirety of this unexpectedly complex “Trojan Horse” film to fully decipher.

The screening will be followed by an on-stage conversation with filmmaker David Osit.
