Waverly Midnights: Hindsight is 2020s

Friday, January 17 - Friday, March 13, 2020

Due to the unexpected closure of the theater on March 14, in order to slow the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, the Winter 2020 season of “Waverly Midnights: Hindsight Is 2020s” will not screen the films originally announced (below) for Friday March 13 through Saturday April 4.

“Hindsight Is 2020s” assembles a dozen dystopian takes on our brand-new decade for IFC Center’s ongoing “Waverly Midnights” program, screening Fridays and Saturdays at midnights January 17-April 4. Kicking off with James Cameron’s THE TERMINATOR (1984, James Cameron) January 17-20, the lineup also includes its sequel, TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY (1991), along with films spanning five decades of looking to the formerly far-flung future, from Richard Fleischer’s SOYLENT GREEN (1973) and Mamoru Oshii’s GHOST IN THE SHELL (1995), to Alfonso Cuarón’s CHILDREN OF MEN (2006), Brian DePalma’s MISSION TO MARS (2000), Tim Burton’s PLANET OF THE APES (2001), Guillermo del Toro’s PACIFIC RIM (2013), Doug Liman’s EDGE OF TOMORROW (2014) and more. Be sure to see our other Winter 2020 series of Midnight films, “Late-Night Favorites” and our 11am Weekend Classics series, “Luis Buñuel.”
